Club Interests - All types of fossils.

Meetings - Held at 7:00 p.m. the second Saturday of each month at Edison State College, located at 26300 Airport Road in Punta Gorda. Meetings feature a guest speaker & programs on archaeology and paleontology, fossil identifications, raffles, and fossil items for sale. Directions to Edison State College

Club Activities - Two field trips a month in addition to scheduled “Kids Digs”, fossil workshops, raffles with an Annual Scholarship Auction. Club volunteers speak at local schools, participating with fossil show & exhibits. We have served Southwest Florida for 26 years. Families and children are always welcome!

Newsletter - Published monthly. Contains interesting news, stories about paleontological and archaeological discoveries, and fossil identifications.

Membership Dues - $15 single, $20 family $4 children

Fossiling Permit - It is Florida's public policy to protect and preserve all vertebrate fossils including bones, teeth, natural casts, molds, impressions and remains of prehistoric animals. Fossil sharks teeth are specifically excluded from these regulations, as are fossil plants, and invertebrates, including shells, so no permit is required to collect these specimens. Saturday, July 11, 2009 Monthly Meeting - Roger Portell, Collection Mgr. Invert. Paleontology of the Museum in Gainesville, will do a talk about "Fossil Hunting at Guantanamo Bay Naval Station, Cuba". 

Sunday, August 9, 2009 - We will be having our annual picnic as our monthly meeting. Details to follow at July meeting and in newsletter.

Saturday, May 9, 2009 - One of our Lifetime Members - Terry Sellari was the guest speaker. His slide program was about Hunting and Diving for Fossils in Florida.

Saturday, April 11, 2009 - Our speaker was this year’s Vertebrate Scholarship Recipient, Catalina Pimiento. She is currently a graduate student in Biology at the University of Florida with a minor in Science Education. She works as a researcher-curator at the Florida Museum of Natural History. Photos
