Fossiling Permit - It is Florida's public policy to protect and preserve all vertebrate fossils including bones, teeth, natural casts, molds, impressions and remains of prehistoric animals. Fossil sharks teeth are specifically excluded from these regulations, as are fossil plants, and invertebrates, including shells, so no permit is required to collect these specimens. Recent Events

Saturday & Sunday, January 16th & 17th - The first annual Arcadia Days was quite a success. We had our booth manned by SWFFC volunteers who handed out information, applications and supervised a fossil dig for younger children. Then we also had a fossil dig in the Peace River for the older kids. In spite of cool, windy weather and cold water, they ventured in and dug for fossils. Photos from Arcadia Days

Saturday, January 9th, 2010 - monthly meeting. Our speaker was George Hecht from Gainesville University. His program was on ostracodes of Moorea, French Polynesia. Ostracoes look like shrimp in a clam shell but are less than 1 mm long.

Saturday, December 12th - we celebrated our annual Christmas Party. Everyone had a great time. Good food, good times and especially good friends. Photos
